BUSINESS GRANTS

Façade Grant:  
The GPCC offers a maximum of $1,000 to help fund exterior improvements to storefronts. Recipients must match the grant amount with at least a dollar-for-dollar match. Grants are competitive. Only projects with significant aesthetic improvement to storefronts will be approved.

Awning/Sign Grant:  
The Commercial Awning/Sign Grant offers a maximum of $1,000 to help fund an outdoor sign or awning advertising a business within the Pitman District. Recipients must match the grant amount with at least a dollar-for-dollar match. Any business receiving an Awning/Sign Grant must have been in business at its present location within the Pitman district for at least six months or must remain in business for six months prior to receiving payment of the grant.

Interior “Fit-Out” Grant:  
The GPCC offers a maximum of $1,000 to help fund material structural interior improvements to public commerce areas of businesses operating in Pitman for no less than 2 years (walls, flooring, ceiling, electrical, plumbing, etc). This does not include: commercial equipment, movable display racks, inventory, stockrooms, etc. Recipients must match the grant amount with at least a dollar-for- dollar match. Grants are competitive.

Social Media Grant:  
The GPCC offers grant recipients one-on-one coaching by social media marketing firm, Kendrick & Company. Grant recipients receive a maximum of $250 toward the cost of consulting, equal to 50% of the service.

Eligibility:  
Please see eligibility requirements as stated on the application. Additionally, applicants must participate in the Pitman Bucks program. If an awarded business ceases participation in the Pitman Bucks program at any time they will be ineligible to apply for future GPCC grant programs.

FOR ALL GRANTS:  
Any improvements funded by the grant must remain with the building for the life of the improvements or materials, even if the business relocates.

Grant Timing:  
Grants applications will be completed online only. The application portal will be available on the Uptown Pitman website starting Monday, September 15, 2025.

Due Dates:  
The GPCC will close the grant application site on October 15, 2025, thirty days after its opening. Grants are competitive. Apply early as some grants are awarded in the order they are received.

Grant Notifications:  
Grant recipients will be officially notified of their grant status at the GPCC general meeting on November 3, 2025. If the grant is retroactive, funds will be distributed at that time.

Required Paperwork:  
In addition to the application, the following documents are required to be submitted electronically for most grants - Copy of a valid lease or property deed, copy of contractor invoices and/or materials invoices and dated proof of payment, a detailed list of the work completed, proof that taxes and utilities are paid up to date.

For Work Currently Underway:  
The following documents may be required - Architectural drawings, executed contracts with contractors, copies of permits, copies of approval from the Pitman Historic Commission, sealed contractor drawings if awnings overhang the sidewalk.

Number of Grants:  
Businesses may apply for only one grant per year. If all available grants have not been awarded after the initial applications are received, another round of grant applications will begin in 60 days.

** NEW **   2025 TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIP

The Greater Pitman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a textbook scholarship! Each year we will award 4 student-employees with a $250 scholarship to be used towards purchasing their textbooks.

Eligibility:
Are you currently attending a college or university? You will be required to provide proof of enrollment if you are awarded the scholarship. You have worked at a business located in Pitman within the the last two years for a period of 3 months or more.

Application Deadline:  September 30 @ 11:59 PM

How to Apply:
Fill out this form and shoot a video and tell us about your work experience in Pitman.

About the Video:
You'll be required to submit a short video introducing yourself. Include your name, school, major, and tell us about your experience working in Pitman. Where did you work, what did you do, what skills did you learn? How would the scholarship help you? Make sure you have enough light in a room when shooting your video. Your video should be 60-120 seconds long.

How do we choose the winner?
Funding is limited and priority is given to students with unmet financial needs and those submitting quality videos. We will also contact your employer to verify your employment status and their recommendation.

How do I know if I was chosen to get the funds?
A GPCC board member will notify you of your scholarship award via email.

Are there any restrictions on how to spend the funds?
If selected as a recipient, awardees should note that scholarship funds may be used towards purchasing new or used textbooks. Reimbursement for books already purchased is also acceptable.
