Bob, or Bobaloo as he was known to his friends, was a long time resident of Pitman who passed away as a result of brain cancer on June 11, 2008. Bob was a loving family man who is survived by his wife Colleen and two children, Emily and Daniel.

Bob was an avid cyclist and loved to promote the sport of cycling. Bob participated in competitive and club cycling for many years as a member of the Summit Cycling Club and Jersey Velo Sport. He enjoyed the competition and camaraderie with his fellow riders and was recogized in the peleton for his strength, tenacity and positive attitude. He fought his battle with cancer in much the same way he met the challenges of bike racing.

As an ambassador of the sport, Bob encouraged many young people to give cycling a try, including many racers who will be competing in this year’s race. Bob was a passionate and compassionate lifetime vocational educator who retired as Principal of Cumberland County Technical Center in 2007. Bob was able to identify skillsets in his students and encouraged them to pursue careers that would be most beneficial to them.

The Riccio Family, The Caffeinated Cyclist Bike Shop and Racing Team, The Greater Pitman Chamber of Commerce and the Community volunteer for this race as a fitting remebrance of Bob.
